JAN BRADLEY - MAMA DIDN'T LIE (1962)
                                    
Started her career, singing songs penned for her by Curtis Mayfield. After a dispute over her publishing rights in the mid 60's, she stopped working with him. She is considered a big northern soul star. 
She stopped singing professionally in the early 70's. She raised a family and became a social worker.

Singer from Edmonton, Alberta, she was considered by many to be the Canadian Dusty Springfield.
"Take My Heart" uses the same backing track as "The Tams" "Be Young, Be Foolish, Be Happy.

THE FASCINATIONS - GIRLS ARE OUT TO GET YOU (1966)


Curtis Mayfield wrote and produced this single, which was  the girls most commercially successful song, reaching 92 in the US charts in 1966.  It did better in the UK charts, when re-released in 1971 reaching number 32.

This 1963 MOTOWN single was the group's first A-Side to be written by Smokey Robinson.


BOBBY PARIS - I WALKED AWAY (1967)


 Classic blue eyed soul from from the New York born singer. In the early seventies, this song along with two other mid-sixties Bobby Paris singles "Night Owl" and "Per-So-Nal-Ly" all emerged as enduring anthems of the Northern Soul scene, a fact lost on Paris himself until he was contacted in 1999 to appear in the documentary film "The Strange World Of Northern Soul"-- he later performed live at the film's premiere party as well.



FRANKIE BEVERLY AND THE BUTLERS - SHE KISSED ME (1965)


Early Single from Frankie Beverly, who would later find greater fame in Jazz Funk legends MAZE.
