BOBBY PARIS - I WALKED AWAY (1967)
Classic blue eyed soul from from the New York born singer. In the early seventies, this song along with two other mid-sixties Bobby Paris singles "Night Owl" and "Per-So-Nal-Ly" all emerged as enduring anthems of the Northern Soul scene, a fact lost on Paris himself until he was contacted in 1999 to appear in the documentary film "The Strange World Of Northern Soul"-- he later performed live at the film's premiere party as well.

THE DRIFTERS - I'VE GOT SAND IN MY SHOES (1964)
I've Got Sand in My Shoes" includes a direct musical and lyric quote of the "down by the sea" line from "Under the Boardwalk". I suppose the idea was that it never hurt to remind the record buyer of your last hit - but the ploy seems to have backfired in the UK.

TYRONE DAVIS - CAN I CHANGE MY MIND (1969)
His first release, "A Woman Needs To Be Loved" was flipped when the b-side started to get radio attention. The song, "Can I Change My Mind" featured a change of vocal style for Davis with a softer, more pleading approach and tone. The record shot up the listings and spent three weeks on the top of the Billboard R&B chart while climbing to number 5 in the Hot 100. It sold over one million and received gold disc recognition.
